A native American hybrid. Discovered in the James River Valley, near Richmond Virginia, in 1835. Prolific producer of small clusters of 10-15mm grapes. Highly drought tolerant, and demonstrates very good disease tolerance.  Well adapted to upland alluvial soils.  With proper vintification is capable of producing stunning table reds.
